Overview
A full day on the Nguyễn dynasty sites of Huế, the capital of Vietnam from 1802 to 1945. The morning is inside the Imperial City, with the throne hall, the Forbidden Purple City and the dynastic temple.
After lunch, drive south to two royal tombs that could not be more different: the lake and pine trees of Tự Đức, then the glass and porcelain mosaics of Khải Định. Finish at the Thiên Mụ Pagoda and take a dragon boat down the Perfume River to the city.

Is it very hot?
From May to August it is hot by late morning. Bring a hat and water; there is shade in the citadel gardens.
How much walking is there?
About 5 km over the day, on flat paths in the citadel and steps at Khải Định.
Is there a dress code?
Shoulders and knees should be covered at Thiên Mụ Pagoda.
