Overview
Five days in the north for a first trip or a short stopover. Eat your way through the Old Quarter on the first evening, then drive to Ninh Bình for the temples of Hoa Lư and a rowing boat through Tràng An.
From Ninh Bình it is three hours to Hạ Long Bay, where you spend one night on a junk before the drive back to Hanoi. You have a private car and guide throughout.

Itinerary
Day 1Arrive in Hanoi, evening food walk
Airport pick-up and check-in. At 17:30 your guide takes you on foot to eight food stops in the Old Quarter.

Day 2Hanoi to Ninh Bình
About two hours south. The temples of Hoa Lư, then two hours by rowing boat through Tràng An.

An early climb to the Múa Cave viewpoint, then three hours to the bay. Board the junk for lunch and kayak in the afternoon.

Can we add a day?
Yes. Most guests who add a day spend it in Hanoi or add a second night in Ninh Bình.
What if the bay is closed?
When the harbour authority closes the bay for a storm, we swap the junk night for a hotel in Ninh Bình or Hanoi and refund the difference.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes. Drives are three hours at most and the junk has family cabins.
